Snow Shoe Grind
Great day snowshoeing today. I went to Grouse Mountain and did the Snow Shoe Grind trail twice!
The first run up and down was hard. The snow was very fresh, so I had to work really hard to keep a good pace. Still, O got to do just under 40 minutes. Then, the second time took me almost 2 minutes longer than the first lap, probably because I was exhausted from the first time.
The effort was worth it. I got to the top of the leader board for the season, until now of course! The end of winter is much better when the snow packs and it feels like running on pavement. I better keep training, because I know I won't be on the top of the leader board for much longer. Bragging rights until then :D

First snow of the winter 12/13 in vancouver
Here is a photo I took this Wednesday on my drive to work. It snowed over night and as usual traffic was a mess, tire shops had lineups of people trying to get snow tires and of course, I had fun driving in it :)
As a good test engineer, I just have to do a traction test in a situation like this. It is safer to know how much pressure to put on your brake pedal before the wheels lock.
Well, then it rained and next morning the snow was gone.

I had this idea for a picture painting, trying to paint a Christmas tree with two flashlights. I don't have the best hand control, but it was fun anyways. It's hard to imagine what things are gonna look like, and to know the exact spots where to stop your hand, also the speed of the movement has to be constant, not too fast, not too slow. Here's the upload, with no post editing.

A cold snap
Last weekend we had 16cm of snow, having to shovel, salt, and bla bla bla. The temperature is still dropping and reached -9C this morning. My roomate brilliantly gave me the idea of making a tshirt wet and hanging if outside. I just had breakfast time to do it, about 20 - 30 minutes. So I did! Soaked a T-shirt, then hanged it outside, thinking that I would see it frozen when i'd come back from work. Nope, it was frozen in 25 minutes! Super fun, I recommend, do it!
